The Trabant—commonly known as the Trabi—was a line of compact passenger cars produced in the former East Germany and for a short period after reunification. The 601 model remained largely unchanged for more than 25 years of production. With over 2.8 million examples built, it became the most widespread car in East Germany and later a powerful symbol of the Eastern Bloc’s collapse, famously seen in global broadcasts showing thousands of East Germans crossing the border in their Trabants following the fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989.
Kit reference AK35032 depicts the most typical sedan version manufactured during the second half of the 1980s. This release includes optional details characteristic of the 601 S variant, such as fog lights and reverse lights. Two different roof-mounted emergency light options are also provided.
