Lower surface color in the Temperate Land Scheme applied to RAF operational aircraft from August 1940 until August 1941 (fighters)/end of World War II (day bombers except for Mosquito). Lower surface color in the later version of the Temperate Sea Scheme applied to Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm aircraft from ca. September 1940 until the end of World War II and to RAF Coastal Command operational aircraft (except for Whitley, Wellington and Liberator) from August 1941 until February 1943 (again used in one of the specified schemes from March 1944 until the end of World War II). Tailband color in the Day Fighter Scheme applied to RAF day fighters from August 1941 until 1947. Lower surface color of RN FAA aircraft from the end of World War II until the late 1950s.
